The W has always been known for its modern sophisticated style, incorporating art and design features throughout the hotel. When the W came to Seattle over a decade ago, the hotel added a sophisticated touch to Downtown Seattle hotels. Opening the W Bellevue only seemed like the next step to elevate the luxury hotel experience in the NW, and enhancing Downtown Bellevue’s already vast growing cosmopolitan vibe.

It’s a bit of a challenge to find at first, but once you’ve frequented the spot a few times, it becomes second nature. Upon entering, you are greeted with the grand presence of amazing local mural art by Gaia in which the mural spans three walls and up the staircase. The stairs are lit which evokes an exciting and wonderous feeling of where you’ll end up.

As you make your way up the stairs, this is where the magic happens. The second level houses the Lakehouse restaurant and the Living Room Bar. My favorite feature is The Porch just outside of the Living Room Bar. It’s the quinessential indoor/outdoor living Northwesterners crave. A giant sectional and fireplace in the middle of the patio anchors the space, while swings and rockers are situated around the perimeter of the patio where great territorial views of Downtown Bellevue can be seen.

Another mural covers one wall – so instagrammable. The service was great as with any W hotel. We enjoyed our drinks on the patio followed by dinner downstairs across to Fogo De Chao. I’ll definitely be making the Living Room Bar of the W a happy hour hang out spot this summer season.

Living in Seattle and the Eastside, Portland has always been a favorite quick travel stop for food, tax-free shopping, and outdoor pursuits.  I was traveling to PDX for work during the kids’ mid-winter break, I decided to take the kids and make it a work trip/family vacation. Since my last visit to Portland, a new artisan food venue recently opened (May last year) that we had the opportunity to check out: Pine Street Market.

Pine Street Market, which opened in the spring of 2016, is located in downtown Portland in the historic Carriage & Baggage Building and features nine of Portland’s best chefs and purveyors, in a casual, open layout. I have a thing for historic buildings, especially when they are preserved, updated, and utilized for todays lifestyle.

Of the nine restaurants, we tried OpWurst, Kim Jong Smokehouse, (pictured above), Bless Your Heart Burgers, and WizBang Bar (Salt & Straw’s lil cousin).  I’m interested to see what other chefs and purveyors Pine Street Market will feature as the venue and concept grows.

Of course, a trip to Portland wouldn’t be complete without indulging in some tax-free shopping. I finally made it to the Danner Factory Store as I’ve been wanting Danner hiking boots forever, this was a must-buy on my list. These are the only hiking boots I would splurge for. I was excited to find the Mountain Light women’s available in my size for a fraction of the regular retail price, score! Can’t wait to break these babies in.

Happy 2017!  Hope everyone had an amazing new year’s.  We stayed home because #homebodies and we have kids.  It’s also husband’s birthday on NYE so we usually have a relaxing day with lunch out or dinner at his choice, an early celebration at home with the kids blowing horns and throwing confetti then tucking them into bed before 9. We drink wine, watch some TV and go to sleep early, and I wouldn’t have any other way. On New Year’s Day, we woke up to a winter wonderland – the first snow of the season in Issaquah!

Today I am sharing my 2017 goals as January is often filled with dreams, plans and hopes for the new year to come.

My personal and career goals for 2017 are:

  • Refinance our home – April/May 2017
  • Renovate our kitchen (I already have my Pinterest boards ready!) – May/June 2017
  • Plant and grow Dahlias in our garden
  • Save for our family vacation to Hawaii and stay at the Disney Aulani – May 2017
  • 10 year anniversary trip (Location Tbd, June 2018)
  • Rank in the top 3 of team at work and win Pinnacle Award – September/October 2017

My ongoing goals are to:

  • Continue to eat healthy as possible
  • Go on weekly hikes
  • Connect with friends on a monthly basis as our schedules allow
  • Enjoy as much quality time with hubby and kids
  • Keep home organized and uncluttered

I’ve always loved the look of flocked Christmas trees and wanted to try something different for our home this holiday season. We still kept our tradition of traveling to a Christmas tree farm to cut down the perfect Christmas tree, but this year, the Christmas tree farm tree would be just for the kids and their playroom. This year, mama wanted her own pretty flocked tree, even if it meant it was artificial. I’ve never owned an artificial tree before, but after weighing in the pros and cons, it made sense to invest in a nice artificial tree, especially a flocked one!  On my constant search for a flocked tree, it had to be slim, pre-lit, and 9 feet tall. Here’s the flocked tree I ended up choosing and placing in our formal living room. I love it!

I like to keep my tree decorations simple yet classic with a touch of glam: clear lights, silver ornaments and a white faux fur tree skirt.

Merry Christmas!

I’ve always enjoyed the early Fall season. I get a surge of new energy, a feeling of newness in the air, and I get to celebrate my birthday. Since having baby #2, Baron, who was born just two days after my birthday, there’s even more to celebrate.

Luckily fall fashion events also take place around the time of my birthday, so it’s only fitting to celebrate my birthday around one of these exciting events.  To kick things off, I attended the Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trend Show at Nordstrom in Bellevue. I attended this past Spring Trend Show & absolutely LOVED it! The morning kicks off bright + early at 8 AM, with complimentary breakfast & coffee, as well as a free Nordstrom Beauty tote with samples. The first part of the morning is a high-energy runway show where industry insiders reveal backstage tips & tricks, followed by complimentary makeup, skincare & fragrance consultations full of customized tips + tricks.

Dry Bar had a hair station this year and I made sure I booked a style appointment quickly.

The best part of the show: beauty goodie bags to take home!
