Spring in Texas arrives earlier and on time compared to the springs in the NW that I have been accustomed to.  That means there are more opportunities to wear those cute sandals and spring dresses. I’ve rounded up my favorite spring pieces this season that can take me through to summer:

  1. Stripes
  2. Florals
  3. Crop tops
  4. Flowy pants
  5. Mustard or Marigold Pants
  6. Straw hat

We’ve attended some fun and stylishly decorated events in and around Fort Worth and Dallas this spring. So far here are my favorites…

One Year Celebration at Walsh…

With being back at work for a month now after taking what seemed to be the fastest 4 months off for maternity leave ever, I am sharing a later review of the Who What Wear for Target collection.

With visions of chic pencil skirts, striped tees, blouses, and cape blazers in my mind, I knew these were key pieces I wanted to add to my work wardrobe, and a perfect excuse to go “back to work” shopping. After a Sunday full of errands, baby, home, and family/friend activities, my last stop for the night was a trip to Target to shop the new Who What Wear collection and try on my favorite pieces.

My local store had a good selection of most pieces, including the trench vest,  striped tees, the cape blazer and printed scarves.

The collection features chic staples inspired by street style with an on-trend twist.  Lots of bold colors, black and white,  and stripes made up the first assortment. Floral and polka dot patterns are easy to mix and match, making the collection effortless to style many different ways.

In the dressing room:

My favorite picks on my wish list weeks before the launch were the cape blazer, boyfriend jeans, and the trench vest which all came home with me. I also had the blush blazer at the top of my wish list but that got snatched up online within minutes.

I was pleased with the fit of the cape blazer with a longer hem in the back, padded shoulders, and had a nice drape. It looks great with denim for a casual look, or with trousers for a more polished look for work.

The trench vest is a fun trendy piece that I contemplated on, but I decided that it would be a great layering piece with many options: worn with denim and a tee, or over a dress, etc.

The boyfriend jeans were a no brainer and on my must-have as I practically live in them and are a staple in my closet. This particular cut for the collection is a slimmer boyfriend fit with a higher waist than most baggier low rise bf versions. The slimmer fit and high waist gives it a more polished look when worn with heels and a blouse.

Here’s a peek at how I styled the cape blazer with my work outfit on my first day back on the job: with cropped trousers, a teal front tie blouse, black wedges, and a grey 3.1 Phillip Lim tote.

I’m excited for a new Who What Wear assortment that will be released each month as I am constantly looking for classic and stylish pieces to add to my work wardrobe and that can transition to casual occasions. Which items were on your wish list?

One of my favorite new digital fashion startups Material Wrld has a good thing going as they combine designer fashion with philanthropy.  I had a great experience with my first trade-in with Material Wrld last fall where I mailed in a few pieces from my closet that I longer wore, received an offer for my items, then shopped with a new gift card at my favorite retailer.

My last trade in included three 3.1 Phillip Lim dresses and a DVF dress. Two out of my three items were accepted and received offers.

I decided to keep the DVF and other Phillip Lim dress which Material Wrld returned to me. As a result, my items earned me a $75.00 Nordstrom gift card. Not a bad trade for items I no longer wear.

Since my first successful and fun trade-in, I had the urge to purge again, reorganizing my closet, finding a few other designer pieces I’m no longer wearing that will hopefully earn another offer. This time’s trade-in includes a Jean Paul Gaultier skirt and top, a Marc Jacobs wool skirt, a Vince eyelet dress, and a Dolce Gabbana dress.

How Material Wrld works:

  1. Receive a free Trade-In Kit that includes a list of accepted items, mailer bag, and a prepaid shipping label.
  2. Mail in pre-owned designer fashions. Simply pack them up in the mailer bag and drop off at a UPS.
  3. Receive an upfront offer for your items.  You’ll receive an offer by email 5 to 7 business days after receipt. You can accept or pass on any items you wish to have returned, and also select to have non-accepted items returned to you or donated to Housing Works.

Target and SoulCycle hosted a 10-city tour featuring private three-day weekend events—with complimentary classes taught by certified SoulCycle instructors. I had the pleasure of attending the Seattle pop-up event over the weekend and got to experience what SoulCycle is all about. SoulCycle’s studio cycling classes are a 45-minute, high-intensity workout (complete with candlelight and rocking music).

With the motivation from our class instructor and the perfectly curated playlist, I made it through the entire ride while getting in my zone and just riding to the beat.

To help guests give their workout gear a stylish refresh, the event featured a pop-up shop with Target x SoulCycle workout apparel.

One of my favorite pieces from the collection is the SoulCycle tank designed for Target, available here.
