Always ‘eggcited’ for Easter, our family has our favorite traditions during the spring holiday that usually involves Easter Sunday Mass, an Easter brunch, followed by an Easter egg hunt. Last year, a lot of businesses were shut down and Easter events were cancelled due to covid. We had easter brunch at home and had an easter egg hunt in the backyard. Last year Jonah’s amazing 4th grade teacher surprised her students with easter goodies dropped off outside their homes. This year is also a little different for our family as we are staying in a vacation rental while our new home is being built, so much of how we are living feels temporary. Although we are not in our own home, I think we can still make the holiday just as special with easter baskets I put together for the kids every year, cooking a hearty brunch at home, ordering some of our favorite pastries from Baked!, and still having an Easter egg hunt!

Easter Baskets

I love putting these together for the boys every year and will probably continue to do until they are in college! Can’t go wrong with a simple basket or this cute wire basket that can be used again and utilized in the home throughout the year to store things. I like to fill their baskets with the usual goodies: a chocolate bunny – Kinder makes an awesome version of a chocolate bunny, cotton candy, chocolate eggs, little spring gifts such as garden seeds and garden tools, and a small toy like legos, puzzles, and books. This year, I curated a monocromatic easter basket with all things blue. I especially love the peeps hand sanitizer this year.

Easter Outfits

Easter style for kids and mom for Easter and spring photos!

My go-to for the kids’ festive and everyday attire, Cat & Jack always comes through! Baron wore this to his preschool picture day and he looked so adorable. Baron’s shirt has a bowtie appropriate for a 5-year-old boss, while Jonah’s shirt is big-kid appropriate without the cutsie bowtie, but still looking cool. Both have a really fun spring floral print in light blue.

For spring dresses for us moms, I’m loving the Halia Dress from Heartloom, (shown above in Yellow) worn with sandals or sneakers for a more casual look.

Another spring dress favorite is this lightweight Resa midi dress with side slit and smocked top, worn with pumps or sandals.

Also comes in blush! Would look cute styled with a cream or white bootie:

Whether it’s going to the park with your kids, a Spring festival or brunch with friends, spring dress season is well under way and easy to wear for stepping outside. They are casual, comfortable, yet still feminine.

In April, we attended the Member’s Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast at the Dallas Arboretum. This lovely spring event is easily one of our favorite events held exclusively for members of the Arboretum. Members are treated to a sumptuous breakfast, festive spring crafts, and a delightful Egg Hunt in Jonsson Color Garden. We also had my in-laws in town so it was the perfect place to showcase the beautiful blooms and gardens during this time of year in North Texas.

I was excited to finally get to wear my favorite blogger Rachel Parcell’s dress from her new RP Collection for Nordstrom that launched earlier in the month. I’ve followed her journey over the years and she continues to inspire through her vision, determination and style.

This is the Rachel Puff Sleeve Dress styled with Teva Flatform Sandals  (my go-to shoes this spring/summer) for a more casual dressed-down look, or can easily be dressed up and elevated with a pair of strappy heeled sandals.

or layered with a staple denim jacket

I’m all about chic comfort for spring, while mixing in sporty casual pieces with feminine details.

Speaking of spring dresses, I recently got together with a few Fort Worth blogger moms to feature some spring dress looks for a Mother’s Day photo shoot. Jen from Working Girl Jen invited us for a fun afternoon at The Kelton to wear a floral dress styled with floral crowns she made. We had a ton of fun and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather in Fort Worth.

“What’s your style mood?”

The endless winter weather has us dreaming of color and warmer weather, and spring is just around the corner.

Infusing color into your winter wardrobe can lift your style and your mood, elevate seasonal neutrals, and can give a traditional print or floral a modern edge. Look for winter and early spring pieces that can be worn now, and into the warmer months ahead. The stores are blooming with florals this season, from moody and dark to bright and bold. Our old friend, neon, has reappeared, adding nostalgic sass.

On Friday, I attended The Spring Fashion Presentation hosted by Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. The Neiman Marcus team is taking a fresh perspective on the new season, working in terms of mood, rather than trend—style over “rules.” Moods change like the weather, so have fun creating a wardrobe that suits you whatever your daily inclination or inspiration.

The room was filled with many creative women in media and the industry, and all around style enthusiasts.  Some whose work I have followed and admired since moving to DFW, and others who I met and whose social media I recently discovered.

Without further delay, here are the five Style Moods presented for SS 2019:

The Hopeless Romantic

Layers of ruffles, sweeping pleats, ribbon bows and floral prints paired with a full range of chromatic values make a strong showing. White is a major player too, from statement shirts with feminine silhouettes to embroidered dresses. Strong but sweet makes a point.

This gorgeous number by Elliatt is perfect for a spring occasion whether it be Easter, a luncheon, tea, or a spring wedding.

Free Spirit

There’s wanderlust, and then there is truly artful travel. Choose a big, printed bag for both form and function, one where you can tuck all the essentials for a trip. The textures, rich color and tone of woven straw like this Rebecca Minkoff Straw Circle Tote and free-flowing fabrics like these Satin Cropped Cargo Pants conjure the relaxed feel of going where the wind takes you.

Colorful Personality

Nothing lightens a mood like a pop of color. Whether you add a colored bag or shoe to your look, or go bolder with a statement piece. Don’t shy away from a bit of neon; it adds a chic dimension to any look. We loved the bright colored Balenciaga minibags worn with everything from denim shorts to playful dresses.

Urban Sophisticate

In the mood for something sleek? Go for low-key neutrals, which are often seen in fall fashion, but reimagined in spring looks. Camel, rust, cream, taupe and black lend sophistication. Leopard on leopard was a hit on the runway. The Veronica Beard Double-Breasted Leopard Print Jacket is an investment piece that can be worn dressed up or dressed down. Here it is shown dressed up with sequins with the Dolce Gabbana High Rise Leopard Pants.

Go-Getter

Get ready to take on the week with modern, layered pieces made for maneuvering around the town.  Alice & Olivia’s Floral print bomber or duster paired with biker shorts work well together, whether dressing for work or play. Wear the Rag & Bone White Kitten Heel Booties, which will go with literally anything in your closet, or rock the Gucci platform sneakers for a bite of street style. Add a statement fanny pack or boob bag in a bright white like the fabulous fun of this Rebecca Minkoff Belt Bag.

For a more casual weekend or travel look, finish the look off with a Teva style sandal which I was especially excited to see incorporated into the style moods. I’ve been seeing Tevas all over NYFW posts and this 90s sandal is back and better than ever. For a designer take on the Teva, check out the Prada Grip-Strap Sandal.

So what’s YOUR FAVORITE STYLE MOOD? I would love to hear how you are going to try on style moods this Spring!
